Artist Statement

My paintings are the physical representation of my mental state of being and a reaction to my physical world. My work is also a personal response to the current zeitgeist. My materials of choice allow me to respond intuitively and gesturally, whether with pencil, paint or wax. Elements of chance in my free-hand approach and layered mark-making allow me to create meaning with composition. The fluid nature of wax and oils allow for a letting go resulting in endless possibilities and challenges.
